Euro 2024: ‘We are a team of winners’ – Bowen relaxed amid England struggles

England must win against Slovenia at Euro 2024 to guarantee their progress to the knockout stages.

England's Jarrod Bowen

England winger Jarrod Bowen says the team are relaxed ahead of their crunch Euro 2024 match against Slovenia.

The Three Lions suffered a setback in Group C against Denmark, drawing 1-1 and stopping themselves from already securing a place in the next round.

But West Ham star Bowen – who has come on as a substitute in both matches – is not panicking about the situation after the whole squad and manager came under fire for their performances in Germany.

Speaking at a press conference, he said “We’re calm about it. We’re not sat here with two games, two losses, bottom of the group.

“We sit on four points, top of the group and in control of our own destiny. We don’t expect to win every game, that’s a bit of an arrogance.

“But we are always confident in our own ability to win.

“Our message to fans is keep sticking with it, keep showing the support you’ve done, because for me to experience it (the support) is incredible.”

England have one of their best squads in years and have been tipped as a favourite to win Euro 2024.

There are plenty of stars who have been left on the bench in the first two games, including Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

It goes to show the talent Southgate has at his disposal and although the football hasn’t been very eye-catching so far, Bowen is adamant that England are a group of winners and that is the main thing.

He added: “We’re ready. I feel we are a team of winners.

“The mood’s really high and you try not to get involved in the outside world because what we’ve got is a real tight group, a real togetherness.

“If you want to be a winner, if you want to achieve things, you have to shut yourself away from that. I haven’t deleted my socials. I’m on there.”
