Matchday 33 in the Bundesliga provides quite a few key clashes in the table at the weekend, with the race for Europe still well and truly on while the bottom three could all be confirmed come Sunday evening. But perhaps the one clash that most will be intrigued by is neutral fan-favorite SC Freiburg clinging on to the fourth spot and a place in the Champions League next season; one that no one had dared dream about before the season began, but must overcome a Union Berlin outfit that also has European aspirations for 2022-23. Borussia Dortmund can officially book second spot behind champions Bayern Munich, while a win at home for Hertha BSC secures their place in the Bundesliga next season at the expense of both VfB Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld. Here is 101 Great Goals’ Bundesliga Betting Tips Preview for Matchday 33.

VfL Bochum (12) vs Arminia Bielefeld (17)
Bochum can breathe easy as they are confirmed to remain in the Bundesliga for the 2022-23 season after their return to the top flight of German football for the first time since 2009-10 has been a success. Form has been patchy for Die Unabsteigbaren with just two wins in their last six, but the pressure being off could help them pick up another three points after securing a dramatic 4-3 win at Borussia Dortmund last weekend. As for Arminia Bielefeld, failure to win condemns them back to 2.Bundesliga next term, and even if they do secure three points, should Hertha do the same, they could only bank on possibly climbing into the relegation playoff. Arminia does dominate the recent head-to-head, but failure to secure a win in their last nine does not bode well.

Köln has hit a purple patch of form at the right time under popular manager Steffen Baumgart in recent weeks, securing four wins on the spin, and are in striking distance of a top-five place this weekend should results elsewhere go their way. It has been a brilliant response from Die Geißböcke after finishing 16th last season and relying on the relegation playoff to book their Bundesliga stay in 2021-22, and confidence can be gained from their winning of the reverse fixture earlier this term in a 3-2 away win, combined with the fact that Wolfsburg has struggled largely this season and can only hope for a midtable finish at best. A few injuries in Die Wölfe’s camp and Köln’s capability at home should tip the balance.
Greuther Fürth (18) vs Borussia Dortmund (2)
Greuther Fürth consigned themselves to the drop quite a bit ago after Kleeblätter has never really stood up and been counted this term to a level that could guarantee safety, securing just three wins all season with the last one coming back on matchday 22. But recent draws against top-half of the table outfits the likes of Freiburg, Hoffenheim, and Union Berlin have proven they can net positive results. Though Borussia Dortmund has failed once more to successfully challenge for the Bundesliga title this season, Marco Rose’s Die Schwarzgelben can officially confirm their status as “best of the rest” once again with a three-point haul on the road, and with both outfits suffering a swath of injury concerns, the squad depth that BVB enjoy over Fürth should do the trick on the day.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (8) vs Bayer Leverkusen (3)
A top-five finish for Hoffenheim is no longer on the table after Die Kraichgauer has gone on a poor run of form at the worst time of the season for them with European football on the line, and has now gone a seven-match run (0-4-3) without a win after some felt Champions League football could be in their future in 2022-23. Leverkusen can guarantee a top-four finish with a win given the fact that they sit four points clear of RB Leipzig who sits in fifth spot, and the form table shows that Die Werkself are the favorites, and rightly so. The third-highest scoring outfit in the Bundesliga should take advantage of a Hoffenheim side that sits 17th in the form table across the last six matches.
SC Freiburg (4) vs Union Berlin (7)

In what is certainly the headline match of the season, high-flying dup Freiburg and Union Berlin are both in the thick of the race for Europe this season and are currently giving the neutrals something to cheer about as they leaped ahead of traditional sides like Borussia Mönchengladbach in the hunt for continental competition. But Freiburg really is the story of the season overall, with Champions League football a massive possibility at the foot of the Black Forest next term under beloved headmaster Christian Streich. Breisgau-Brasilianer are undefeated in four (3-1-0) but desperately need to win to keep ahead of RB Leipzig, while Union boasts their own impressive run of form of late (4-1-0) and can climb to sixth with a win. This should be a belter, and Union may fancy their chances having lost just once against Freiburg in their last six meetings.
Hertha BSC (15) vs 1.FSV Mainz 05 (9)
Eintracht Frankfurt (11) vs Borussia Mönchengladbach (10)
Eintracht Frankfurt fans will feel elated after watching Die Adler secure a spot in the Europa League final last night in a which saw them book passage to a date with Glasgow Rangers in Sevilla, but their form in the Bundesliga could not be more opposite from their excellent run on the continent this season as they sit mid-table and winless in six matches. Gladbach has also massively underperformed this term when compared to previous years that saw them in the European places, but Die Fohlen have slightly come around of late after winning three of their last six and just losing one over the same period. Their defensive struggles could be a telling factor here though, with Jekyll & Hyde showings at the back at any given moment railroading multiple potential results this term. This could end even after 90-min though.
Bayern Munich (1) vs VfB Stuttgart (16)
Champions Bayern Munich has nothing to play for after securing their tenth Bundesliga title on the spin, and that fact alone showed in their 3-1 loss to Mainz last weekend away from Bavaria. By contrast, Stuttgart is in a fight for their survival this season and desperately needs to secure all three points to keep Bielefeld at bay while giving themselves an outside chance of catching Hertha who is currently four points ahead of them in 15th. The home fixture could give a bonus to the Bavarian giants, however, and Die Schwaben still dealing with a swath of injury concerns across the first-team squad in conjunction with Bayern decimating them in the reverse fixture earlier in the year may be a bridge too far for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men.
RB Leipzig (5) vs FC Augsburg (14)
RB Leipzig’s poor recent run of form in the Bundesliga carried over to Europe last night when Domenico Tedesco’s men were shoved out of the Europa League semi-finals after Glasgow Rangers secured a massive win at Ibrox to book their ticket to Sevilla for the final, with Die Roten Bullen now on a three-match losing streak across all competitions, which makes Sunday’s clash with bottom-third side Augsburg all the more vital if they intend on competing in the Champions League next term. Augsburg are not mathematically safe from avoiding the bottom three but a current 6-point lead over Stuttgart (16th) should be enough, but the onus is all on RBL as they look to hunt down high-flying Freiburg while simultaneously holding off a late surge from both Köln and Union Berlin who have the capacity to jump ahead of the Saxony-based outfit should their poor form continue. RBL to earn a much-needed win.
