After an historic success back in May, what will 2022/23 bring for Eintracht Frankfurt?
Two months ago, Filip Kostić lifted the UEFA Europa League aloft in Seville after Die Adler had beaten Rangers on penalties in the final.
It was a truly historic run for Oliver Glasner’s team who beat Olympiacos, Real Betis, Barcelona and West Ham en route to that final.
Aside from the silverware itself, the win means Frankfurt will compete in the Champions League group stages for the first time ever come September.
With so much to look forward to, the 2018 DFB-Pokal winners will be desperate to avoid a first round exit here.
So, Der Club will compete in the 2.Bundesliga this season, aiming to survive in the second-tier for the first time ever.
In Pokal terms, Magdeburg have lost their last for first round ties, dating back to 2017 when they beat Augsburg 2-0.
Here, Frankfurt will be looking to leave MDCC-Arena having negotiated this potentially tricky match-up.
