Match Preview

Bristol City have well and truly recovered after a shaky start to the season with four wins from their last five games. Last time out saw them record an impressive 3-2 win over early season high flyers Blackburn Rovers, which also meant they leapfrogged the Robbin’s in the table and moved into the top four with fourteen points.

Nigel Pearson will be delighted with many aspects of how his side have turned things around in recent weeks, particularly the form of veteran striker Nahki Wells who has notched four goals so far this campaign. The home side are favourites for this one, with bookies offering odds of 5/4 for Bristol to come away with three points.

Quite remarkably, their opponents Preston have only conceded one goal so far this season, coming last weekend during their 1-0 loss to Birmingham City – their first of the season. While conceding goals has been kept to a minimum, Preston’s style of play has been questioned, with a lack of goals at the other end (just two so far) meaning once they do concede the result is inevitable.

It also cannot be entertaining for fans to watch on a weekly basis, as Ryan Lowe’s side have played out stalemates on five occasions this season. They will have to be more ambitious attacking-wise if they want to have any chance of playoffs this year. North End are slight outsiders for this clash, with bookies giving you odds of 21/10 for them to get a victory at Ashton Gate this weekend.
