Match preview

Two sides in search of a bounce-back result are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Ashton Gate this Saturday, April 1st.

The matchup in question will see Bristol City act as hosts, in a meeting with Reading.

Beginning with the former, Bristol headed into the international break fresh off being brought firmly back down to earth, by way of a pair of successive defeats.

After surging clear of the relegation scrap courtesy of just one loss in their prior twelve outings, trips to Luton Town and Swansea City culminated in the Robins twice being put to the sword, whilst failing to find the net themselves even once.

Instead, Bristol City will head into the weekend sitting 14th, five points off Preston North End in 12th.

All associated with the Robins, though, will likely fancy the club’s chances of getting things firmly back on track on Saturday afternoon.

This comes with their upcoming opponents having long found themselves tumbling down the table, owing to a dismal stretch of form of their own.

All told, across the month of March, Reading managed to scrape together just a solitary point from an available 15.

This run featured a quartet of successive defeats, which saw Paul Ince’s troops ship nine goals, all whilst finding the net themselves just once.

It should be noted, though, that Reading did manage to at least steady the ship in the club’s final outing before the international break.

This came as Andy Carroll’s first-half equaliser proved decisive in securing a share of the spoils in a home meeting with Hull City.

Now sitting in a lowly 18th in the standings, though, the Royals will be desperate to add to this result by way of another positive one this weekend.

But we at 101 view as much as unlikely.

Instead, hosts Bristol City should be viewed as favourites, albeit with the Robins’ own stuttering form of late meaning an eventual sharing of the spoils cannot be ruled out, either.
