Match preview

Two sides in search of a return to winning ways are set to lock horns in a Championship clash at Carrow Road on Tuesday, February 21st.

The matchup in question will see Norwich City act as hosts, in a meeting with Birmingham City.

Beginning with the former, Norwich, this past weekend, reinforced their status as one of the English 2nd tier’s most frustratingly inconsistent clubs once more.

Fresh off a morale-boosting return to winning ways at the expense of Hull City, the Canaries faced off with a Wigan Athletic side firmly entrenched in the bottom three.

This result means that, over the course of the last month, Norwich have won two, lost two and drawn one of their last five outings.

Such inconsistencies, in turn, leave the Canaries languishing in mid-table, three points adrift of the playoff promotion spots.

Safe to say, then, that Wagner and co. will have their sights firmly set on a bounce-back result on Tuesday night.

And Norwich may well be confident in their chances of securing as much up against a Birmingham City side fresh off a pair of underwhelming results of their own.

The Blues, for their part, appeared to have turned a corner earlier this month, in rattling off a pair of successive victories over Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion.

John Eustace’s men, however, have since failed to kick on in any way, shape or form.

After first slipping to defeat at the hands of relegation-battling Cardiff City, this past weekend, Birmingham faced off with a Huddersfield Town side sitting 2nd from bottom in the table.

Troy Deeney’s early opener, however, ultimately proved little more than a consolation, en route to an eventual 2-1 loss in Yorkshire.

The Blues, in turn, find themselves back in 18th in the Championship standings, just seven points clear of the danger zone.

And we at 101 do not envision their situation improving all that much on Tuesday night, backing hosts Norwich to emerge on the right side of the result at Carrow Road.
