Yorkshire outfit Leeds United continue to fight tooth and nail in a bid to secure their position in the Premier League during a topsy-turvy 2022-23 campaign under manager Jesse Marsch after the Whites have yet to pick up three points since the restart after an extended break from action during the World Cup interval.
But club director of football Victor Orta is determined to supply Marsh with reinforcements during the January transfer window while having already added Austrian defender Maximilian Wöber to the ranks at Elland Road after his arrival from RB Salzburg, with Orta now turning his attention toward matters further up the pitch.
After links have emerged suggesting that Leeds could make a play for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and French youth international striker Georginio Rutter, Orta has turned his attention toward 22-year-old Angers SCO attacking midfielder Azzedine Ounahi as one of two Premier League clubs that are said to now be in the running to compete for his signature.

Reports from Express journalist Ryan Taylor detail a £17.5m bid submitted for the Casablanca native after club owner Andrea Radrizzani signed off on the approach, with Ounahi offering a player profile that would be tailor-made for Marsch’s system which features a growing young influence on the back of key performances from the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Joel Gelhardt, and summer signing Wilfried Gnonto.
Still bereft of real creativity, Ounahi would certainly move the needle in that regard while also being quite capable in the press, which was routinely on display for Morocco in Qatar as the former US Avranches youngster was so often a central catalyst for head coach Walid Regragui.
But Taylor also warned that Leeds remained on the outside looking in regarding their chances of landing the highly-touted midfielder who has been billed as an elegant player by former assistant manager Corentin Bouchard; “He is a beautiful player, an elegant player, the kind of player people go to the stadium to see. I just hope he continues to amaze everyone.”
