Match Preview

Preston have finally started conceding goals, after an incredible run of seven clean sheets in a row. A 1-0 defeat to Birmingham and a 1-1 draw to Burnely has shown teams that their defence is not impenetrable, however, it is still very hard to break down. Despite the strong back line, going forward has been a problem as they’ve scored just three goals all season, with the majority of their games ending in bore draws.

If Ryan Lowe has expectations of making the playoffs this year, he will have to set up his side to go for games a little bit more and turn those draws (six out of nine so far) into wins. North End go into this clash against the league leaders hoping to keep yet another clean sheet but are understandably outsiders with the bookies at odds of 21/10.

The Blades are sitting pretty at the top of the table with just one defeat and six wins from nine so far this year. They have also netted an impressive 17 goals with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge in great form. Last time out they scored with virtually the last kick of the game to see off Swansea away from home.

Being on the road again won’t phase Heckingbottoms side either with two wins on the bounce away to the Swans and Yorkshire rivals Hull City. It’s still early days but it would be a surprise if United weren’t in the reckoning for a top-two finish come the end of the season. They head to Deepdale as strong favourites for another win, with bookies giving them odds of 5/4.
