Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk have spoken out regarding Arsenal’s initial advance for club starlet Mykhailo Mudryk as negotiations are underway for a hopeful move to the Emirates for the 21-year-old highly-touted left-winger, with vice director Carlo Nicolini remaining firm on the club’s position.

The Gunners lodged an initial €40m upfront offer plus €20m in add-ons was immediately rebuffed by Hirnyky, with Nicolini commenting that Arsenal’s first approach was nowhere near enough to prize away a player that is currently seen as the club’s best-ever academy product.

“A cash figure of €40m is not even taken into consideration,” Nicolini said, with club sporting director and former defender Darijo Srna adding that any club interested in Mudryk would need to “respect” Shakhtar and will have to pay “a lot, a lot, a lot.”

Also according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs, it is anticipated that an increased up-front offer of €55m with €15m in add-ons is viewed as a figure and payment structure that could likely see Shakhtar come to terms with the player’s inevitable departure.

Mudryk has risen to prominence this season after a string of hugely impressive performances for the Ukrainian outfit in the Champions League, including influential outings against Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old remains the club’s top priority in the upcoming January transfer window ahead of the likes of Atlético Madrid’s Portuguese international João Félix and other notable potential options.
