Match preview

A Rotherham outfit fresh off heartbreak in midweek will act as hosts this weekend, in a Championship matchup at the New York Stadium.

This comes as the Millers prepare to face off with a Norwich City side still searching for a consistent run of form.

First, let’s take a look at the recent efforts of the former.

Rotherham are currently in the midst of a concerning stretch of results, which has seen them secure just a solitary point from an available twelve.

The most recent came this past Wednesday, when a trip to table-topping Burnley saw Matt Taylor’s men put to the sword by three goals to two.

The final scoreline in and of itself, though, did not tell the true story.

As proceedings at Turf Moor rolled into injury time, it was actually Rotherham who looked set to clinch all three points, leading by two goals to one courtesy of strikes from Ben Wiles and Chiedozie Ogbene.

The most remarkable of turnarounds, however, saw Burnley go on to hit back not once, but twice, the 2nd of which came a full ten minutes into time added on, to ultimately condemn the Millers to defeat.

Taylor and co, as a result, have slipped to 14th in the Championship table, now just three points clear of the bottom-three.

Safe to say, then, that upcoming opponents Norwich will be confident in their chances of adding to Rotherham’s woes this weekend.

The Canaries, of course, have endured a hit-and-miss season of their own to date.

Widely viewed as being amongst the favourites for promotion ahead of things getting underway, a lengthy recent stretch of inconsistency has culminated in Dean Smith’s troops falling well off the pace of table-topping Burnley.

Norwich have, though, at least managed to put a stop to an alarming recent slide over the course of the last week.

After falling to four defeats from five between October 8th and 25th, the Canaries have since secured four points from an available six.

Last time out, a meeting with high-flying Queens Park Rangers at Carrow Road gave rise to a solid if unspectacular sharing of the spoils, courtesy of a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate.

And we at 101 are therefore backing Norwich to go one better next time out, to emerge from the New York Stadium with all three points at Rotherham’s expense.
