After an astonishing victory on the road a week ago, Rīga FC can surely start planning for the next round of qualifying.

Seven nights ago, to the surprise of all, the Latvian club left Štadión pod Čebraťom 3-0 winners.

It isn’t surprising that Rīga are, surely, going to win this tie, it’s the margin of their victory that no one would’ve expected.

Despite only being founded eight years ago, they’ve reached the play-off round on two occasions, falling to København in 2019 and Lincoln Red Imps 12 months ago.

Ružomberok meanwhile have never got further than the third qualifying round and that’s not going to change.

Rīga will be looking forward to a Europa Conference League third qualifying round clash with Gil Vicente from Portugal.
