Match preview

After a famous, backs-to-the-wall victory on Thursday night, will Barcelona get back to winning ways in La Liga?

Just last week, Xavi’s team were under big pressure, dumped out the Europa League by Manchester United, before being beaten in the league by Almería.

Then, on Thursday night, the Blaugrana took on Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi.

The only goal of the night at the Bernabéu was an own goal, with Franck Kessié’s shot taking numerous deflections before slowly trickling in.

Barcelona essentially parked the bus in the second half, but will have a narrow lead ahead of the second leg in Catalonia next month.

Back in La Liga, despite last Sunday’s defeat, Barcelona remain seven points clear at the top, hoping to, at least, maintain that advantage here.

Prior to that, los Che hadn’t won since 10 November, losing seven of eight matches during this period.

Rubén Baraja’s team do remain in the relegation zone, but are now just one point adrift Valladolid and safety.

Here, given that Valencia haven’t won at Camp Nou since 2016, a home victory is very likely.
