Match preview

Cheltenham Town are looking to bounce back from their dreadful performance away to Forest Green Rovers but they will have a tough task in getting all three points at home to the league leaders Plymouth Argyle.

It’s been a sensational season for Plymouth and it has so far been arguably their best campaign in the third tier in history. The club have now moved to the top of the table in League One after Ipswich Town lost to Wycombe Wanderers, just as they managed to collect all three points at home to last-placed Morecambe. It was a narrow victory, however, as they didn’t score until the 69th minute and needed a late goal from Sam Cosgrove to seal all three points.

Argyle have managed to score 41 times this season from 22 games and they have also managed to win the most games in the league so far with 14 – no side has netted more goals than them so far.

As for Cheltenham, they defeated Chelsea U21s last time out in a stunning 4-0 win which so far goes down as arguably their best win of the 2022/23 season in all competitions.

The club remain in 17th, however, and they have won just seven of their 20 games. On the other hand, they have a game in hand on some of those around them, but with just 16 goals scored, they are the lowest-scoring team in League One still.
