Match preview

After these two clubs finished 11th and 14th last season, both will be hoping to kick on and end this campaign in the top half.

Celta de Vigo ended the previous campaign just below the European places, but were unable to kick on, with their several slumps proving costly.

Eduardo Coudet’s side only won seven matches at Balaídos last time round, needing to make their home turf a fortress once again.

As for Espanyol, given that they were newly-promoted, coming 14th represents a solid return to La Liga.

Raúl de Tomás was, pretty much, their only reliable source of goals last season, so Joselu has joined to help address this problem.

After Vicente Moreno was sacked back in May, Diego Martínez is the new man in charge, hoping to make a winning start in this one.
