Match preview
Third and sixth in League Two are set to meet this weekend in what is turning out to be arguably the biggest game of the season for both Northampton Town and Carlisle United with only six points keeping the two apart right now.
The two clubs are sitting in healthy positions right now in the table with the Cobblers having a game in hand to play over second-placed Stevenage. On the other hand, with two fewer games won, the club have a bit of work to do in order to catch Stevenage. However, Northampton are the highest-scoring side in League Two, netting one more than Leyton Orient in first.
Carlisle also have a game in hand to play over those around them, with Swindon Town in eighth and Mansfield Town in fifth having played 21 matches so far. It gives the club a bit of breathing space in the playoff spots, but with just eight games won, Carlisle still have a lot to prove.
The Cumbrians have not played since December 3rd and head into this game off the back of two matches without a win. Walsall first beat them in the FA Cup second round, before a 1-1 draw with Sutton United. On the other hand, it’s been just under a month since the stunning 4-1 win away to Salford.
