Both sides scored three and conceded two last time out, so there are bound to be goals in this one and we think the home will just nick it.

The Black Cat’s strikeforce looked potent last time out, with Simms opening his account after just four minutes. We are backing them to do the same against QPR.

Match Preview

The Black Cats have enjoyed a fine start to life back in the Championship, gaining a point against Coventry on the opening weekend and coming from behind to beat Bristol City 3-2 away from home last Saturday. On loan Everton striker Ellis Simms made his debut and impressed to say the least scoring two and only denied a hattrick because of a spectacular save from Daniel Bentley. Simms formed a devastating trident in attack, linking up with Ross Stewart, who headed home the winner, and Alex Prichard who assisted twice in the game.

If Sunderland can keep that trio fit, they will cause any defence in the division major problems. At the other end though, Alex Neil will be disappointed in the ease at which Bristol managed to score, dampening an otherwise dominant performance from his side. Facing QPR will be a tougher test, even on home soil. However, the Mackems are still favourites to take all three points, getting you odds of 13/10.

Rangers also bagged their first win of the season with the same scoreline as their opponents this weekend, seeing off Sunderland’s North East rivals Middleborough at Loftus Road. The game looked to have been won when Lynden Dykes made it 3-0 in the 38th minute, but QPR let Boro back in the game as Fross made it 3-2 on 56 minutes. The hosts hung on for the win, but it should have been much more comfortable.

The R’s had a decent season last year, finishing 11th but haven’t added to their squad too much, with only four coming in so far. However, Tyler Roberts and Taylor Richards (on loan from Leeds and Brighton respectively) should add quality. The away side goes into this one as 21/10 outsiders.
