Match Preview

Steve Bruce’s West Brom take on his former side, where he is still remembered fondly by fans, although they will be looking to take full advantage of the Baggies’ dismal start to the season. The home side remain winless so far with three draws and a defeat at the hands of league leaders Blackburn Rovers.

This weekend presents a good opportunity for West Brom to finally get their first three points, but they will need to improve in front of goal with the side still creating a lot of chances but failing to convert more often than not. This is evidenced by the fact they have only scored three goals this season and have not notched more than once in any game this term. A striker could be the order of the day between now and the end of the transfer window.

The Tigers on the other hand have enjoyed a great start to the season under new management and Turkish ownership. Hull have won two and drawn two under the stewardship of Shota Arveladze, including a 2-1 victory over Norwich last weekend. There has been an influx of new players at the KCOM and a number have impressed so far, none more so than Jean Michael-Seri who was signed on a free from Fulham.

Many view that as a coup and it’s easy to see why with the midfielder costing the London club in excess of £30 million just a few years ago. They have spent fees on a few other players as well, most notably Tufan, Sinik and Sayyadmanesh who all joined from the Turkish Super Lig for a combined fee of around £10 million, something which would never have happened under the previous regime. A lot of these players are untested at Championship level, but the early signs are good for the Tigers and they could be ones to watch this season.
