Match preview

An all-Championship clash between two clubs at the opposite end of the second-tier table.

Back in October, goals from Sam Gallagher and Adam Wharton saw Blackburn beat Birmingham 2-1, a result that is pretty indicative of where the two clubs are.

Blackburn Rovers haven’t featured in the Premier League since 2012, but are in with a shout of changing that this year.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side are currently fourth, despite actually having won just one of their last five.

In FA Cup terms, the Riversiders are six-times winners of this competition, only six clubs can boast more, although the most-recent of these triumphs came in 1928.

They began their latest cup adventure with a 1-0 victory over Norwich, Jack Vale the scorer at Carrow Road, and Rovers will be confident of another win here.

The Blues are 19th in the Championship, six points clear of danger, having lost five on the spin.

John Eustace’s team did manage to come from behind to oust League One strugglers Forest Green in round three.

Lukas Jutkiewicz and Kevin Long the scorers at the New Lawn, although the game was most memorable for Neil Etheridge’s remarkable triple save.

Here though, Blackburn are big favourites to prevail at Ewood Park.
