One of the safer bets of the upcoming round of Serie A fixtures looks a Napoli win over Monza.

Luciano Spalletti’s troops got their campaign up and running in emphatic fashion last weekend, running riot at Hellas Verona en route to an eventual 5-2 triumph.

Though odds of 1.333 for the Partenopei to make it two wins from two at the expense of newly-promoted Monza may not be pretty, they look as close to guaranteed to pay out as one could hope for this weekend.

Tip of the game

Napoli’s quintet of goals at Verona on opening day came courtesy of five different scorers, one of whom, unsurprisingly, came in the form of Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian is fresh off an 18-goal haul in 2021/22, across which he showcased elite aerial ability on a regular basis.

Odds of +700 for Osimhen to find the net versus Monza courtesy of a header could therefore well be worth a punt.

Match preview

The two sides will head into proceedings having enjoyed altogether contrasting starts to the new campaign in Italy’s top-flight.

As alluded to above, Napoli got their efforts to mount a fresh challenge for the Scudetto off to the ideal start, netting on five occasions at the Bentegodi.

Monza, on the other hand, saw their first ever outing in the top-flight of Italian football culminate in deserved defeat at the hands of Torino.

Spalletti’s hosts, as a result, should be viewed as overwhelming favourites to clinch all three points in Naples this weekend, potentially to the tune of a considerable final margin.

Turning attentions towards the personnel front, Napoli are expected to be without key midfield pair Diego Demme and Fabian Ruiz for the clash. Summer arrivals Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-jae, though, the former of whom looked particularly impressive against Verona, should retain their respective starting berths.

Monza, meanwhile, will be forced to make do without Carlos Augusto, but should again call on Arsenal loanee Pablo Mari in defence. Elsewhere, Juventus talent Filippo Ranocchia is in line to retain his place in the middle of midfield, with fellow summer arrivals Andrea Petagna and Gianluca Caprari ready to lead the line.
