Bottom-placed Angers meet with a Lille side trying to get closer to the European spots before the break for the World Cup with the home side currently sitting seventh in the league and an almighty 15 points ahead of Angers already.
There is no mathematical way in which Lille can move into the top five this weekend, regardless of the result here. However, a win could bring them to within a point of those in the top four right now, and they do have a favourable result set to take place between fourth-placed Marseille and fifth-placed Monaco, as one of them is guarunteed to drop points at least.
Neverthless, the form of Lille has dropped significantly over the past three weeks since beating Monaco 4-3 at home. A loss to Lyon came a week later, before a draw with Rennes back at home dropped the club into seventh.
As for Angers, despite having won one game more than Strasbourg in 18th, with just two other draws and 10 defeats across the 14 games, they sit bottom of the table on eight points. Just like Lille, they also cannot mathematical achieve what they would like this weekend, as Nantes in 16th are ahead of them by four points.
It should be a routine victory for Lille, given how they are so clear of them in the table. Angers have still managed to beat Nice and Montpellier this season, but after the win over Nice before the international break, they have gone on to lose six games in a row.
