Lyon will be looking to keep up their stunning start to the new season when they meet with Angers at the Groupama Stadium this weekend with the French giants aiming to remain unbeaten as Angers look for their first win of the season.
It’s been absolutely dreadful for Angers so far this season. The club have so far failed to win any of their five games so far this campaign and after drawing the first two of the Ligue 1 season, they are now on a three-game losing run.
Brest, Troyes and Reims have all dismantled the club in the past three fixtures, and despite scoring a goal in each of them, they also lost by scoring at least three goals, with Reims even defeating the club 4-2 last time out in midweek. Brest and Troyes recorded 3-1 wins each.
Angers’ two points on the board so far do come from a draw with Nantes and a 2-2 clash with the newly-promoted Auxerre, as Lois Diony and Amine Salama scored a goal each in the draw with Auxerre, which the club should be commended for after initially going two goals down.
Lyon, however, eased past Auxerre themselves in midweek after winning 2-1. It now keeps them unbeaten in the league and with just three points to make up on league leaders, Paris Saint-Germain. Waht’s more, with just four goals conceded for Lyon so far, only Marseille’s record of three goals conceded looks better in Ligue 1.
There’s no reason to not suggest Moussa Dembele and co. won’t win this one once more and add more misery onto an already dreadful pile at Angers. Lyon should get the result here and remain unbeaten in Ligue 1.
