Sevilla have won ten of their last 11 meetings with Rayo Vallecano, including a 3-0 victory at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in August. Rayo’s last win in this fixture came ten years ago.

Sevilla to win and both teams to score NO is 5/2.

Sevilla to win and under 2.5 goals is 10/3.

Lucas Ocampos is 6/1 to break the deadlock and 12/5 to net anytime.

Match preview

UEFA Europa League specialists Sevilla are on the march again in their favourite competition.

On Thursday evening, los Nervionenses welcomed West Ham United to Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in a game that was never likely to be high-scoring.

Marcos Acuña swung a free-kick over to Munir El Haddadi at the back post and he smashed a perfectly-timed half-volley into the bottom corner.

Given that Sevilla have won 27 of their last 28 Europa League ties, they’ll be confident of getting through at the London Stadium next Thursday.

Back in La Liga, Julen Lopetegui’s side have fallen out of contention as they bid to win the club’s first league title for 76 years.

Los Hispalenses have now drawn five of their last seven league games, including a goalless stalemate at Mendizorrotza with Alavés last Friday.

So, Sevilla remain second but are now eight points behind Real Madrid with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid both in hot pursuit.

Will Sevillistas close the gap at the top before Real Madrid are in action on Monday night?

Rayo Vallecano meanwhile were fourth on Christmas Day, a simply remarkable achievement for a newly-promoted club.

However, since the festivities ended, Los Franjirrojos have failed to win any of their eight La Liga fixtures, accumulating a mere one point.

Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Cádiz means they’ve now lost six successive matches, after which Head Coach Andoni Iraola admitted they’re in a relegation battle.

Los Vallecanos are still 13th but are now just seven points clear of danger, needing to address their alarming form.

Will Rayo claim their first league win of 2022 in this one at Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas?

Rayo Vallecano team news

Andoni Iraola will be hoping the extra rest his side have enjoyed can given them the edge as they look to claim a shock win.

Radamel Falcao missed last weekend’s defeat to Cádiz and, if he’s not back, Sergi Guardiola will continue as the lone striker.

Álvaro García and Isi Palazón could keep their places on the wing with Bebé on the bench, despite his amazing free-kick in the Copa del Rey recently.

Luca Zidane will continue in goal having displaced Stole Dimitrievski for the number one shirt.

Sevilla team news

As for the visitors, their injury list seems to be growing by the hour.

Diego Carlos, Karim Rekik, Gonzalo Montiel, Fernando, Érik Lamela, Suso and Papu Gómez all missed Thursday’s match injured.

Ivan Rakitić then picked up an injury in the warm-up against West Ham so the extent of his injury is unknown.

In midfield, Thomas Delaney is likely to return here having sat out that tie due to suspension.

This is just as well because Nemanja Gudelj is currently filling-in at centre-back, alongside Jules Koundé.

In attack, Tecatito, Munir El Haddadi and Lucas Ocampos will continue to support Youssef En-Nesyri, who hasn’t scored since 25 September.

Anthony Martial is fit again after coming off the bench on Thursday while Rafa Mir is the alternative.
