Best forwards on FPL 2023/24
In this article, we will highlight the top 10 forwards worth picking up in your Fantasy Premier League side for the 2023/24 campaign.
Erling Haaland (14.0)
Haaland’s 2023/24 FPL price makes him the joint-most expensive player in the game’s history. However, after he broke countless records, including most goals in a single Premier League season (despite playing four fewer games than the previous record holder), you will be putting yourself at a disadvantage if you do not select the Norwegian.
Harry Kane (12.5)
Ollie Watkins (8.0)
Next up is a solid mid-range option. Ollie Watkins scored 15 and assisted eight in the Premier League last season, which is impressive in of itself. However, the striker truly found form when Unai Emery was signed in late October. He scored just two goals in the 12 outings before Emery became manager, so imagine what he could do with a full campaign under the Spaniard.
Callum Wilson (8.0)
The man competing with Watkins for a spot in your team is Callum Wilson. Wilson scored 18 and assisted six in the Prem last term, which is superb. However, your choice between the two will come down to whether or not you think Watkins’ form will be impacted by Emery being in charge all campaign. But either player should get you a nice amount of points next season.
Aleksandar Mitrovic (7.5)
A slightly cheaper option than the two players above but still in that mid-range forward bracket, Aleksandr Mitrovic scored 14 and assisted two in 2022/23. However, it is worth noting that Mitrovic only played 24 league games due to a lengthy suspension, so it is likely he would have scored more if he did not get sent off in the FA Cup vs Manchester United.
Julian Alvarez (6.5)
Next up is a slightly risky pick but a player who could be a great differential. Alvarez is only selected by 2.4 per cent of managers at the time of writing, largely because everyone goes straight for Erling Haaland. However, Alvarez still scored nine and assisted three in the league last season despite being a fringe player. And with Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez’s futures up in the air and Kevin De Bruyne set to miss the start of the campaign due to injury, Alvarez could have a run in the team early in 2023/24.
Cody Gakpo (7.5)
Cody Gakpo is also a bit of a gamble but one that could pay off well. The Dutchman is expected to be Liverpool’s starting striker this season. He scored seven and assisted three in 21 PL ties last time out and with Liverpool back in form and adding some much-needed creativity to their midfield this summer, Gakpo could be in for an excellent campaign.
Christopher Nkunku (7.5)
As Kai Havertz and Timo Werner have proven for Chelsea in the past, Bundesliga tax seems to be a real thing. However, at just 7.5m, Nkunku may be worth a punt given how many goal contributions he has produced in the past. 2022/23 saw him score 23 and assist nine in 36 outings for RB Leipzig.
Dominic Solanke (6.5)
A budget option and perhaps someone who is overlooked by many, Dominic Solanke was the 6th-best forward on FPL last season, with every player above him at least 1.5m more expensive. The striker scored six and assisted an impressive 10 goals in 2022/23. But with Bournemouth under new management this term, there is some risk involved.
Joao Pedro (5.5)
The final player you may wish to bring in is Brighton’s latest summer signing, Joao Pedro. The Seagulls finished in a record-high 6th place last time out. However, they were once again without a quality goalscorer. Pedro has been brought in to fix this issues and if he is able to find form in an impressive Brighton team, 5.5m could be a serious bargain.
