Best midfielders on FPL 2023/24

In this article, we will highlight the top 10 midfielders worth picking up in your Fantasy Premier League side for the 2023/24 campaign.

Mohamed Salah (12.5)

Despite being the best-scoring midfielder on FPL last season, Mohamed Salah’s price went down by 0.5m this year. The Egyptian scored 19 and assisted 13 in 2022/23, which is a low total by his usual standards. However, as Liverpool are expected to be back to their best this season, an even higher-scoring campaign is on the cards for Salah.

Martin Odegaard (8.5)

Marcus Rashford (9.0)

Marcus Rashford had a fairly slow start to the 2022/23 season but was still able to score 17 and assist seven in 35. If he can continue his end-of-season form into the upcoming campaign, he will be one of the best picks on FPL.

Gabriel Martinelli (8.0)

Like Odegaard, Martinelli was one of the best-scoring midfielders on FPL last term, netting 15 and assisting nine – a total which was hampered by an injury late in the season. And as he is 0.5m cheaper than his Arsenal teammate, he is most certainly a player you should pick.

Bruno Fernandes (8.5)

Bruno Fernandes scored eight and assisted nine in the PL last year, but he was still one of the best chance creators in the division. If Manchester United get a proper no.9 in to finish off those chances, Bruno will be a real bargain thanks to his price decrease.

Eberechi Eze (6.5)

The first budget option on this list, Eze’s form took a major upturn when Roy Hodgson was brought back to Crystal Palace and if he can keep up that form for all of 2023/24, he will be a great asset.

Bryan Mbeumo (6.5)

Mbeumo is another budget option who has the potential to reach the 200-point mark this season. He scored nine and assisted nine last season but was a forward, so he got fewer points than a midfielder for his goals. And with Ivan Toney banned, the Bees will be looking to Mbeumo to score more goals.

Phil Foden (7.5)

Foden was in and out of the Manchester City team last season after somewhat losing his place on the left to Jack Grealish. However, he still scored 11 and assisted seven. It has also been reported that the Englishman will be used in a central role this season, meaning we should see him starting on a more consistent basis, which should equal more goals.

Kaoru Mitoma (6.5)

Mitoma scored 10 and assisted eight for Brighton last season despite beginning the campaign as a fringe star, and will likely improve on that tally in 2023/24 with a full season under his belt. However, you may wish to consider how losing Alexis Mac Allister and potentially Moises Caicedo will affect the Seagulls.

Heung-min Son (9.0)

Our final pick is a slight risk but one which could pay off massively. Son scored 10 and assisted six in the league last time out, which is comfortably his worst campaign for many years. But if the South Korean can start firing again under his new manager, the price decrease to 9.0m would be well worth it.
