As the domestic season draws to a close, attention turns to international football once more, with England in action against Malta and North Macedonia in their latest round of EURO2024 qualification matches.
Plenty of the England squad picks itself, with the likes of Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden and John Stones all among the first names on Gareth Southgate’s teamsheet. But there is always space for in-form talent, with Marc Guehi, Emile Smith Rowe and Ollie Watkins all having been called up for their first caps in the last 18 months.
With that in mind, we took a look at 10 players that we expect to see in and among the Three Lions squad in the months to come, and perhaps even in the final squad for EURO2024 next summer.

Yet to make his debut at club level with Chelsea, Levi Colwill has enjoyed a fantastic debut Premier League season with Brighton, building on an excellent season in the Championship with Huddersfield Town in 2021-22.
Now due to return to Chelsea this season, the left-footed centre back seems certain to challenge for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for EURO2024 next summer.
9. Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest)
Plenty of eyebrows were raised when Nottingham Forest agreed to splash out £45m, a club record fee, on Morgan Gibbs-White last sumer.
If he can begin next season in the same way that he finished the last, he could be there or thereabouts for the November internationals.

8. Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa)
Enjoying a long run in the Aston Villa side under Unai Emery, Jacob Ramsey is emerging as one of the most exciting English talents, with the versatile 22-year-old having managed six goals and seven assists last season.

If he can make another step up with the Villains as part of their push for European success, it will be hard to leave him out of the England set up for too long, especially given he is now too old for the U21 setup.
7. Lewis Hall (Chelsea)
While England tend to always be well stocked at right back, left-back is another story. Ben Chilwell has been regularly hampered by injuries, and that has led to Lewis Hall being handed his Chelsea debut at full-back, despite being a midfielder.
If he can continue to impress with the Blues, he could be a useful option for Gareth Southgate in the coming months.
6. Alex Scott (Bristol City)
The first of two Championship talents on this list, Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott is widely expected to be at a top six club in the next few seasons after an exceptional campaign in England’s second division.
Linked with a move to Tottenham, the 19-year-old grabbed a goal and five assists for Bristol City in last season’s Championship, he is expected to make the step up to the Premier League and should he continue to improve, an England call up won’t be far away.

5. Curtis Jones (Liverpool)
One of few positives to come out of Liverpool’s season, Curtis Jones ended the campaign in fine form and, if he can manage to stay fit, could be a key part of the Reds’ new look midfield next season.

The Englishman managed three goals from midfield in his final three games of the season and is one to watch for next season both for club and potentially for the Three Lions.
4. Rico Lewis (Manchester City)
Considered for the most recent March international break, Manchester City talent Rico Lewis may have a hard time getting into the squad despite Gareth Southgate’s love of right-backs.

But, with both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben White seemingly out of favour with the Three Lions boss and Kyle Walker not getting any younger, he may well find himself with a well-deserved call up in the coming months.
3. Joe Willock (Newcastle United)
Now a Champions League midfielder, Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock seems to finally be delivering on the promise that he showed at Arsenal’s academy, and has made himself a regular under Eddie Howe’s leadership.

Though midfield is traditionally a hard place to get into the England squad, Jordan Henderson’s continued ageing and Kalvin Phillips’ lack of minutes could see him sneak into proceedings, and grab a spot for himself in the England squad.
2. Nathan Tella (Southampton)
Rising to prominence at Burnley where he spearheaded their Championship title win, Nathan Tella could be on the move this summer. He found the net 17 times for Vincent Kompany’s side and could be set to return there on a free after parent side Southampton were relegated.
Should he manage to continue his excellent form into next season, he will be hard to overlook given the struggles of other stars in his position.

1. Noni Madueke (Chelsea)
Another talented youngster that Chelsea have managed to secure, Madueke has appeared four times for the U21 side but never made the step up. Yet.
After a promising first 12 Premier League outings since his January arrival at Stamford Bridge, he appears to have nailed down a spot in the Chelsea starting XI and with little cover on the right wing for Bukayo Saka, a call up could be on the way.
