“A lot of things can happen”: Christian Pulisic hints at possible summer exit from Chelsea

The 24-year-old found minutes hard to come by in the English capital in 2022-23 under multiple managers, and could be on his way out of London if new boss Mauricio Pochettino does not offer a chance to flip the script

United States international star Christian Pulisic could be in line for a change of scenery this summer after the Chelsea forward failed to rule out the possibility of departing London during the upcoming transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who is currently with the USMNT camp ahead of their CONCACAF Nations League semi-final clash with bitter rivals Mexico on 15 June, shed light on his season of frustration at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the table under the combined guidance of three different managers.

With former Tottenham fan-favorite Mauricio Pochettino now in charge in west London, the former Borussia Dortmund wunderkind has hinted that he could move away from the English capital this summer.

“It’s been an interesting journey at club level for me. I thought I had a great couple of years, and the last couple of years haven’t gone how I have planned them to be.”

“Right now, my focus is obviously here with the national team. And like I said before, I am just excited to just get back playing and enjoying myself, and do what I love to do out on the field. From there, this summer, we’re obviously going to have to see what happens. It’s obviously very early; as of right now, I am a Chelsea player and I plan to go back but a lot of things can happen. A lot of things can change.”

Pulisic managed just ~1000 minutes for the Blues this past season despite making 30 appearances across play in the Premier League, Champions League, and the EFL Cup, starting just ten times in the process. If there is a chance that he may be moved on, either willingly or at the behest of Pochettino, a new lease on life could be just the tonic for a player that still has plenty left in the tank.
