Marseille will travel to strugglers Strasbourg this weekend in Ligue 1 as the club look to reestablish themselves as title contenders once more before the gap gets too big with them now nine points adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain as they sit down in fifth after a poor run of form.
After finishing second in Ligue 1 last season, Marseille have now not won in the league since defeating Angers 3-0 back in late September. The club travelled to PSG soon after with hopes of getting back in the title race, but with then losing 1-0 there and 2-1 to Ajaccio shortly before that, it does now mean just one win in the past five games, with them also drawing 1-1 against Rennes back in mid-September.
The French giants played hosts to Lens last time out and narrowly lost 1-0 too, meaning the club have netted just one Ligue 1 goal in October. They have looked good in the Champions League at times, however, smashing Sporting Lisbon 4-1 at home and then 2-0 in Portugal. On the other hand, they lost 2-1 in Germany to Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek.
Strasbourg have just one win in Ligue 1 so far this campaign and no side has won fewer games. It does keep them out of the bottom four for now, however, with them scoring 12 goals and letting in 19 en route to drawing six games.
Marseille will be eager to get back to the win column here, and anything but would be quite worrying.
