The 28-year-old would become the fourth major signing by Al-Za’eem this summer, potentially following in the footsteps of Rúben Neves, Sergej Milinković-Savić, and Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Mitrović is one of the club’s top targets this summer regarding reinforcing the forward areas at King Fahd International Stadium, but work still remains when it comes to reaching a figure commensurate with Fulham’s valuation of the player.
At current, the club’s initial €30m bid was rebuffed by the Cottagers, though Al-Hilal is expected to return imminently with a second bid that is reportedly ready to be dispatched.
Mitrović, who has bagged 109 league goals during his six combined seasons in the Premier League as well as the Championship at Craven Cottage, would be the latest in a long line of European-based talent that has been prized away by Al-Hilal dating back to 2018-19 with the capture of former Olympique Lyonnais striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Should both clubs finally agree on an acceptable fee, Fulham would have just Carlos Vinícius and Rodrigo Muniz as their only front-line strikers, and would likely be in serious need of a move for a line-leading center-forward before the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
