The Gunners’ main transfer target heading into the window has clearly been West Ham’s Declan Rice.
The north Londoners saw a bid rejected by West Ham on Thursday but they are expected to come back in with a second offer worth over £100m.
After Rice, Brighton star Moises Caicedo – who Arsenal tried to sign in January – looked to be their second target of the window.
However, reports on Thursday claimed Mikel Arteta and co. have pulled out of that race, leaving Chelsea and Manchester United to battle it out.
Instead, Arsenal look to be trying to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz. Reports on Wednesday suggested the Gunners had made contact but were some way away from the valuation, with the Blues thought to want around £70m for the out-of-form German.
Now, according to a report from Football Transfers, Arsenal have agreed on a contract with the player but there is a significant gap in valuations as far as the two clubs are concerned.
Arsenal told they can sign ‘Turkish Lionel Messi’ for €17.5m
