Arsenal are reportedly considering Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins as the man to bolster their options up front.
According to Steve Kay of Football Transfers, Watkins is now on Arsenal’s radar ahead of the summer, with the Gunners continuing to monitor the 27-year-old, who they’ve also tracked in the past.
No transfer fee is mentioned in the report, but Watkins will likely command a high sum given his current form.
Watkins has scored 14 and assisted six in the Premier League this season, with 11 of those goals coming in his last 12 outings for Aston Villa.
Arsenal currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah on their books as natural centre-forwards.
But with Jesus having been sidelined for several months until recently, the no.9 role fell solely on Nketiah and he has not scored too many goals this campaign, perhaps leading Arsenal to the conclusion that they need more depth up front ahead of next season.
