Arsenal have been linked with a move for Manchester City and Spain stopper Aymeric Laporte in recent days.
Laporte joined Man City for £57 million from Athletic Bilbao but he could be available for a fee of around £30 million this summer.
Laporte to Arsenal does make some sense as Mikel Arteta currently only has Gabriel as a left-footed centre-back option.
The Spanish manager is also not shy about playing centre-backs at full-back – see Jurrien Timber and Ben White vs Manchester City on Sunday – and Laporte has shown for Man City he is more than capable of plying his trade at left-back.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed City are open to selling Laporte:
“For sure, Manchester City are open to selling Aymeric Laporte but it has to be for an important proposal,” Romano wrote. “Laporte will speak with his agents this week to get some clarity over the future. I think there is a concrete chance for him to leave Manchester City based on what I’m hearing though.”
