The remarkable situation surrounding Brighton & Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard has taken yet another twist late on Friday evening.
The name of attacker Trossard has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines on England’s south coast over the course of the last week.
This comes as the Belgian, once viewed as an undisputed starter and perhaps Brighton’s most important player, falls victim to the wrath of head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
After first confirming that he had come to the decision to banish Trossard to the stands last weekend owing to a less than acceptable attitude in training, the Italian provided further insight into the situation late this evening.
This comes as the 28-year-old prepares to watch on from afar once more on Saturday, when Brighton face off with Liverpool:
“Leandro isn’t in the list of players for tomorrow,” De Zerbi explained.
“The Monday after, I spoke with him and I explained this attitude, this behaviour, I don’t like.

“He knows very well that if he wants to play with Brighton with me, he has to work hard, he has to run, he has to be in the right way because we are not a big team such as Real Madrid or Barcelona, we are Brighton and we need players who work like the others who stay in Brighton.
“I don’t know what is the problem. I want to be clear, I am open with him to take a step back and listen to him but he has to understand with me, I want only players who work hard and play for the team 100 per cent.”
If the latest comments on the part of Trossard’s agent are anything to go by, however, than it appears that any hopes on De Zerbi’s part for a reconciliation are firmly dead in the water.
Taking to social media on Friday evening, Josy Comhair released a statement, slamming Brighton’s boss for his treatment of his client.
Not only that, but Comhair also went on to confirm that Trossard is now actively seeking a January escape route from the Amex.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are one outfit expected to express a keen interest in the Belgian’s services.
