Portuguese youth international Nuno Tavares is set for another season away from Premier League giants Arsenal after agreeing to move to Nottingham Forest on loan for the 2023-24 season.
The 23-year-old has never kicked on in the English capital since his arrival at the Emirates during the 2021-22 season but enjoyed a fine 2022-23 campaign with French side Olympique de Marseille as proof that he still has much to give.
As such, Tavares entertained interest from a number of clubs this summer, including Bundesliga outfits VfL Wolfsburg and SV Werder Bremen, but it is English side Nottingham Forest won the race for the goal-scoring left-back after Tavares decided to join Steve Cooper at the City Ground.

Per Fabrizio Romano, Tavares joins on a season-long loan, with Arsenal set to receive a £1m loan fee as well as Forest having a £12m buy option on the player should they want to make the deal permanent.
Tavares is set to undergo his medical today as Forest also completed a deal for Brazilian defender Murillo for €15m as the club looks to improve their options in Cooper’s defense.
The relegation candidates, who finished four points clear of the bottom three last term, have gotten off to a decent start this season. Despite close-run losses to both Arsenal (2-1) and Manchester United (3-2), Forest did secure three points against Sheffield United, but have already surrendered six goals this season. Tavares, given his profile, is likely to help improve the club at both ends of the pitch.
