Saudi Arabian football is set to continue its recruitment drive this week, with Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez next in their sights in a bid to put the ROSHN Saudi league firmly on the world map.
Already a common name this transfer window, the division have snuffed up some of the world’s best talent, with the likes of Karim Benzema, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ruben Neves among those who have taken their footballing skills east.
They remain far from done, and are keen to continue adding some of the worlds best talent after seemingly being handed carte blanche by the Public investment fund of Saudi Arabia.
Next on their list is Mahrez, with the Algerian having fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad and with just two years left to run on his contract with Manchester City.
Now 32-years-old, Mahrez appeared 47 times for the Cityzens last campaign, but only started 22 times in the Premier League and was left on the substitutes bench for all of the Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final as well as the FA Cup showpiece as his side clinched an epic treble.
As per CBS, this has left him considering his options amid an offer that has been on the table from Al-Ahli since June, and the club are expected to begin negotiations with Manchester City this week as they look to hammer out a transfer, with some reports suggesting that they will need to pay as much as 40m euros for the Algerian.
