According to Italian outlet, Calciomercato, Arsenal are in pole position to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
Hojlund joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer.
He has impressed during his spell in Serie A, scoring seven goals in 23 league appearances. And most recently netted five times in Denmark’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Calciomercato claim Arsenal are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old but it is suggested that they could face competition in the form of Juventus, who are backing Dusan Vlahovic to find his scoring form but could turn to Hojlund if the Serbian is sold in the next transfer window.
In terms of a potential transfer fee, it is suggested that Hojlund is already valued at £40m.
Said fee may seem quite high for such a young player, but there are clearly high hopes for the hitman, who has already been labelled ‘Haaland 2.0′.
“Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,” he said earlier this year.
“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”
