Mykhaylo Mudryk was of interest to Arsenal in the summer transfer window, with the Gunners eyeing reinforcements out wide following the loan of Nicola Pepe to Nice.

Arsenal currently have just Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka as natural wide options, though Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Jesus can also operate on the flank if needed.

But whilst Arsenal could not land Mudryk in the summer, their hopes of bringing him to the Emirates and January have been given a major boost.

Speaking about leaving Shakhtar in a recent interview, Mudryk said he could not say no to Arsenal:

“In the winter we will see,” the Ukraine international told CBS Sports when asked about a potential transfer. “There’s been a lot of discussions about a transfer and speculation about what clubs want me. “I think every player dreams of the Premier League. It’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach. I like the way they play. From my side I can’t say no [to Arsenal] but a transfer is not just up to my decision.”

Mudryk is a product of Shakhtar’s youth system and became a regular feature for their senior side last campaign.

Mudryk is a natural left-winger, with little experience on the right, though, suggesting he will not provide cover for Saka.
