This comes with the Belgian out of contract in 2023 and seemingly not eager to put pen to paper on a fresh deal.
Reports earlier this year claimed that Arsenal had identified the 25-year-old as one of their top targets, with Tielemans’ lack of a new deal sparking interest from several clubs, including Arsenal.
Arteta was also said to be eyeing a left-footed midfielder who can operate as an eight on the left of a three, which Tielemans can.
However, the Belgian did not move during the 2022 summer transfer window despite his future clearly impacting his ability to play for Leicester.
Brendan Rodgers dropped Tielemans early in the campaign, citing off-the-field distractions as a reason why.
But though he stayed at Leicester, Tielemans has still not signed a new contract and will be able to agree pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from January.
“At the moment there are still no concrete updates for Youri Tielemans,” Romano explained.
“For sure, he’s not extending his contract with Leicester, but at the moment there are no advanced talks with any club, it will start during or after the World Cup.”
