According to reports from 90min earlier this week, Arsenal had a club scout in attendance to watch over goalscorer Dominik Szoboszlai and Dani Olmo during RB Leipzig’s 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich last weekend.
Arsenal initially tried to sign Szoboszlai in 2021 before his switch to Germany but, of course, failed to do so. It is understood that the Hungary international has a €70m release clause.
As well as a high release clause to deal with, the Gunners may have another issue when it comes to trying to land Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai spoke to the Hungarian channel Csisztu back in 2020 when he was an RB Salzburg player, revealing his admiration for Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp:
“I really like Klopp,” he said. “The kind of human being he is. The way he can inspire his players is unbelievable. Even when they have nothing, they can stand up and his players can achieve anything. For me, he is the best manager in the world.”
Given Liverpool are in need of midfielders this summer, if Leipzig are open to selling Szoboszlai, Arsenal may face some unwanted competition from the Reds with the latter holding an advantage due to their manager.
