Bentancur has been sidelined since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in a match against Leicester in February and subsequently having surgery.

The South American was one of Tottenham’s better players during what provided to be a disappointing 2023/24 season.

But after a fresh start under a new manager, fans are no doubt eager to see Bentancur back in action and helping the side continue their fine start to the new campaign.

However, it looks as though Spurs fans will be waiting some time to see the midfielder back on the pitch.

Asked if Spurs had a return date for Bentancur, Postecoglou said: “Not a defined one but he is getting closer. I think probably around November time, we’d be looking to reintegrate him into it.

“He’s ticking all the boxes so far. He’s really keen. He came to see me yesterday wanting to train and within a minute I had one of the medical team running behind him to collar him and drag him out.

“It’s obviously a significant injury so probably looking around that timescale.”
