Everton attacker Anthony Gordon has skipped training for the third successive day as he looks to force through a move away from the club, having already handed in a transfer request at Goodison Park this January.

Gordon is the club’s second top goalscorer but was linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer, and has again been the subject of interest from a Premier League side this winter, with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle looking to agree a deal to take him to the north east in a bid to bolster their attacking ranks on Tyneside.

And, as per the Daily Mail, the academy graduate has “told Everton he has no intention of returning to his boyhood club” as he looks to complete a move to Newcastle in the coming days. At present, it is believed that a bid of around £35m, with add-ons taking it up to £50m should he meet the necessary criteria, is on the table from the Magpies, though Everton are thought to be holding out for closer to £55m.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur FC are also thought to hold an interest in the attacker, despite having recently pinched fellow forward Arnaut Danjuma from a proposed move to Everton just 24 hours ago, with Antonio Conte keen to add further firepower in north London.

Elsewhere, the Toffees are continuing their managerial hunt as they hold talks with Marcelo Bielsa over the role vacated by Frank Lampard over the weekend. Also among the options are Sean Dyche and Ralph Hasenhuttl. There is some good news on Merseyside, however, as Amadou Onana has reportedly turned down the chance to leave this winter despite interest from Chelsea, opting to remain at Goodison Park until the summer.
