Arsenal headed into the game knowing that they need a win to keep their title hopes alive for another week.

Manchester City kicked off Sunday top of the league by a point with a game in hand. They were also in action in the day’s early kick-off vs Everton and came out on top, stretching their lead to four points.

As for Brighton, they began the day 8th in the Premier League, two points off the Europa League places with three games in hand, meaning a win on Sunday would have moved them up to 6th.

When all was said and done, Brighton picked up the win.

Brighton fans believed Gabriel Martinelli should have seen a red card after three minutes following a high challenge on Mitoma but he was not booked.

Martin Odegaard nearly gave Arsenal the lead 15 minutes in with an effort very similar to his goal vs Newcastle but this one went just wide.

Arsenal continued to have the better chances in the first half, with Trossard and Gabriel Jesus coming close.

Enciso had an open goal chance presented to him shortly before the break but he put his shot over. But neither side was able to break the deadlock in the first 45.

Brighton took the lead after 51 minutes through Ensico.

After going 1-0 down, Mikel Arteta opted to bring on an extra winger in place of a midfielder. However, Arsenal were unable to find an equaliser and their defeat means Manchester City can win the league next weekend.

Deniz Undav added a second for the Seagulls in the 86th minute before Estupinan made it 3-0 after 95 minutes.
