The player in question is Moises Caicedo.
A report from Fichajes claims that Chelsea have identified the 21-year-old Ecuadorian as one of their main targets and they are hoping to get a deal done in the coming weeks.
It is added that Chelsea are hoping to partner Caicedo with Enzo Fernandez and Manuel Ugarte next season. Ugarte is also a priority target for Chelsea this summer.
The signing of both Caicedo and Ugarte does make sense for the west Londoners as Mateo Kovacic is seemingly heading to Manchester City, whilst N’Golo Kante’s career has been hampered by injuries a lot in the last two years.
A midfield trio of Fernandez, Caicedo and Ugarte could be one of the best in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino, but the move for the Brighton man is a bit of a blow to Arsenal.
The Gunners have shown heavy interest in Caicedo, with it reported in January that Brighton rejected £60m, £70m and £80m bids from the north Londoners.
