Arsenal currently have just Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka as natural wide options, though Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Jesus can also operate on the flank if needed.
And after Arsenal could not land Mudryk in the summer, it looks as though the Gunners will not have to pay even more if they want to sign the winger.
This comes with it being reported that Arsenal have had their opening offer for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk rejected.
Their opening offer was believed to be in the region of £55m, although part of that amount was due to be paid in add-ons.
Fans should not give up hope of landing the forward, though, as Arsenal remain in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk and are expected to return with a fresh offer for Mudryk.
And now, the 21-year-old Arsenal target has been backed to win the Ballon d’Or.
De Zerbi oversaw part of Mudryk’s development and the forward scored two goals while registering nine assists in 19 appearances under the Italian’s watch. Together, the pair won the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2021 before De Zerbi’s exit as a result of the Russian invasion.
“Mudryk is a fantastic player, but Brighton can’t buy him,” said the Italian.
“I like him, because I like all my ex-players. But Brighton can’t buy him, Arsenal, I don’t know.
“I think Mudryk can win the Ballon d’Or in the future. I know the value of Mudryk, he has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.”
