Arsenal and Chelsea have been told that it will cost a maximum of £80m to land Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer, despite reports that it could cost far more.
The Ecuador midfielder has shot to prominence with the Seagulls across the last 18 months, and was the subject of failed bids in January, one from Chelsea and three from Arsenal, despite putting up a social media post demanding that he be allowed to leave.
He subsequently signed a new deal at the AMEX stadium, which did not contain a release clause and would see him remain on the south coast until 2027.

Despite this, there is an expectation that he will leave this summer, with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi accepting on the final day of the season that ‘it can be the last game’ for both him and Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister has completed a move to Liverpool for a fee believed to be in the region of £35m, but Caicedo is set to cost any interested club far more. As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are keen on the young midfielder.
As for price, he adds that ‘Brighton want £70m-£80m for Moisés Caicedo’, which would represent a massive profit on the 4.5m euros that the Seagulls shelled out to bring him to the Premier League.
