Reports back in May claimed interest was mounting in Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, following his impressive loan spell with Sturm Graz.
Okonkwo, 21, has been on Arsenal’s books since he was eight years of age.
The young keeper was a regular feature for their youth sides but has never made a senior appearance during his time at the Emirates.
2022/23 saw to keeper spend the first half of the season on loan in League Two with Crewe where he kept 10 clean sheets in 26 outings.
Okonkwo was then loaned out to Austrian side Sturm Graz in the second half of the campaign. The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances for Graz and kept six clean sheets. He was also instrumental in them capturing the Austrian cup. Graz beat RB Salzburg in the quarter-final on penalties with Okonkwo between the sticks. The Arsenal keeper was then able to keep a clean sheet as his side won the final 2-0.
Now, however, it looks as though Okonkwo will be allowed to leave Arsenal this summer.
“His agents had a conversation with Arsenal and they were very honest. At the moment, it looks difficult for the player to be an Arsenal player in the future.”
