Arsenal officially lost the Premier League title to Manchester City on May 20.
Three draws and three losses, the majority of which in games Arsenal should have got more from, was enough to allow Manchester City to catch and then surpass the Gunners to clinch a 5th league title in six seasons under Pep Guardiola.
Arsenal have one more game of 2022/23 to play, but their attention will now have turned to the summer and improving their squad.
A new left-back if Kieran Tierney leaves, better cover at centre-back, at least one central midfielder – maybe two if Granit Xhaka joins Bayer Leverkusen, more cover for Bukayo Saka on the right and potentially a new striker are needed in north London this summer.
And whilst said number of players will set Arsenal back a fair bit, The Times report that Stan Kroenke is set to back Mikel Arteta heavily during the summer transfer window, freeing up a huge budget that could be more than £200m.
The report adds that the primary area the Arsenal boss wants to strengthen in is midfield, with West Ham captain Declan Rice remaining the club’s main target in this area.
