Spanish giants Barcelona have, on Thursday, been afforded a timely boost on the personnel front.
This, of course, comes ahead of Xavi Hernandez’s troops kicking the defence of their La Liga title into gear in just 72 hours’ time.
Barca’s endeavours for the 2023/24 campaign will begin with a trip to the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, for a meeting with Getafe.
Ahead of the clash, the Blaugrana have already been forced to contend with a number of issues on the injury front, with the likes of Gavi, Inigo Martinez and Ronald Araujo having all sparked concerns across the club’s fanbase at one point or another during pre-season.
Star defender Andreas Christensen, meanwhile, was too viewed as a major doubt to feature against Getafe, after sitting out Barcelona’s recent friendly meetings with both AC Milan and Tottenham with an Achilles problem.
In turn, it will no doubt come as a major boost to all associated with Xavi’s side to hear that, in fact, Christensen looks set to be available for selection on Sunday evening.
He will, as a result, be expected at the very least to take his place on the bench at the Alfonso Pérez.
❗Andreas Christensen has fully recovered from his achilles tendon discomfort. 🇩🇰
