The player in question is Ivan Fresneda of Real Valladolid.
101 covered reports last month which claimed that Arsenal had tabled a ‘lucrative’ offer to bring Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Fresneda is a product of Real Valladolid’s academy and has so far featured 26 times for their senior side.
Now though, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona are prioritising a right-back signing this summer and Fresneda is ‘top’ of their list.
They add that Real Valladolid’s relegation means the 18-year-old’s release clause has gone down from €40m to €20m.
There have already been meetings with the player’s representative, Fali Ramadani, who represents Marcos Alonso and Miralem Pjanic as well, but nothing has been decided yet.
Should Arsenal not end up signing a right-back this summer, it likely means we will see Ben White staying out wide for the 2023/24 campaign, despite him being a natural centre-back. Potential new signing Jurrien Timber has also played at RB a few times, but he is a natural stopper as well.
