Arsenal headed into the game knowing a win would be huge for their title chances.
Arsenal had a five-point lead over Manchester City before Sunday, but with the Sky Blues in FA Cup action this weekend, Mikel Arteta and co. could have headed into the international break with an eight-point lead.
So far though, Arsenal have not looked as their best. The Gunners have had a few chances but they have also been hit on the counter several times with the Eagles threatening Aaron Ramsdale’s goal. Though Mikel Arteta’s men were still able to take the lead after 28 minutes via Gabriel Martinelli.
This drop off in quality may be because star centre-back William Saliba is out due to injury.
However, another Arsenal star who is playing on Sunday has also come in for some criticism.
Said player is Bukayo Saka, who has enjoyed an excellent season so far and he also provided an assist for the opening goal.
