Spanish giants Barcelona are just details away from securing a fresh addition to the club’s midfield ranks, according to widespread reports.
For those not aware, the subject of reinforcements in the middle of the park, specifically of a deep-lying variety, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Barca across the summer to date.
This comes after long-time Blaugrana pivot Sergio Busquets came to the decision to call time on the legendary Camp Nou chapter of his career, in favour of joining Lionel Messi at MLS outfit Inter Miami.
This, in turn, left the powers that be in Catalunya’s capital with work to do in sourcing a replacement, evidently of the opinion that Frenkie de Jong’s characteristics are not suited to the role.
To this point, a whole host of midfielders have therefore been tipped as potential additions to Xavi Hernandez’s squad.
If the latest word stemming from the media late on Friday is anything to go by, though, then Barcelona’s search, it would appear, has come to a conclusion.
A deal worth a fee in the region of €5 million, plus add-ons, as well as the loan of Pablo Torre, is understood to have been all but finalised between Barca and La Liga rivals Girona.
An official announcement regarding the transfer could in turn be forthcoming as early as this weekend.
